I watched Women Talking over the weekend and I admire all of the actresses for their performances, and Sarah Polley for her work directing the film. I don’t know if Rooney Mara was always the first choice for her character, but I found her… I don’t know, slightly miscast? A discussion for another time. In any case, Rooney came out to the SAGs with her Women Talking costars and, if it’s a red carpet, you know Rooney will wear Alexander McQueen and do a flat center-part and not wear any jewelry. The only shock here is that the dress isn’t all-black. She wore this lacy white-and-black look and I’m kind of tired of all of this? She’s got this commitment to looking as severe as possible.
Michelle Williams in Dior. Kind of boring and subdued. It’s fine but unmemorable.
Elizabeth Debicki in Dior. Big Anya Taylor Joy vibes, right? Does Dior just make all of their ladies style themselves that way? Anyway, I dislike this, mostly because of the pea-soup color.
Jessie Buckley in Dior. This wrinkled tin foil dress ain’t it, but I still enjoy her. She’s not a fashion girl, but she’s a great actress.
Claire Foy in Prada. This was one of the colors of the night – both Viola Davis and Angela Bassett wore very similar shades of yellow. This is maybe one of the best Dior looks I’ve ever seen, honestly? I love it and she looks incredible. She was great in Women Talking as well.
