These are some new photos of Reese Witherspoon over the weekend, receiving the Gene Siskel Film Center Renaissance Award – it’s basically a lifetime achievment award for her body of work. Reese wore this really cute maternity dress by Vanessa Bueno. I wanted to note two things about her appearance: first, I think Reese looks adorable pregnant. Some women just look incredibly cute while knocked up, and Reese is one of them. She looks younger and happier. Her preggo enthusiasm is lovely. The second thing I wanted to note – is it just me, or does her bump look sort of strange? I’m not calling her Beyonce or anything…but it’s kind of weird. Maybe it’s just the dress. Anyway, if you’d like to read more about Reese and her award, go here.
Meanwhile, Reese continues to make post-baby career plans. Late last week, a new, dumb-sounding film was announced, and Reese is already attached to star. The film? Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus. For real. They’re making a non-fiction dating/relationship-advice book into a movie. Deadline noted, “The film is based on the John Gray self-help title, a guide to relationships and marriage that is the best selling non-fiction hardcover book of all-time (excepting the Bible and Koran) with over 7 million copies in circulation.” They don’t even have a script yet, but I can imagine it will be the same kind of nonsense offered by What To Expect When You’re Expecting. They already know when they’ll start filming too – January 2013. Because I guess there are no worries that the script won’t be good enough? You know I actually think Reese is incredibly talented, but I wish she wouldn’t waste her talent on crappy, poorly written rom-coms like this. Sigh…
